Tower of Power Gospel Ministries is building a place for God in the
community, in the hearts, and homes of people. Whether it is through the encouragement of senior citizens, interfaith developing relationships, supporting refugees, or providing relief to families and individuals struggling with illness, we seek to be a servant church. Our main goal is to provide support to others in order to build stronger communities. The Bible teaches us to see beyond our needs and to the needs of others. Tower of Power Outreach Ministry stands faithful in response to what the Word says “for I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me” (Matthew, 25:35-36).
Food Pantry Ministry
The Food Pantry Ministry serves the physical and spiritual needs of the community. This is done by providing food to individuals and families in need of nourishment and spiritual food for the soul. Recognizing that God has blessed us to be a blessing, the Tower of Power Gospel Ministries Food Pantry serves as a vehicle to share the overwhelming abundance God has showered on us with those in need in our community. Boxed food is shared on most Fridays starting at 1:00 p.m. with love and respect to those who come for assistance. On the second Tuesday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. food distribution is provided for those in need at our church.
Clothing Drive Ministry
We work year round to prepare for our clothing giveaway that is held once a year between the months of March and April. Over the years, we have helped thousands of people in the community, giving them the clothing that they need for work and school. The process begins when clothing is dropped in our collection box in the parking area of our church. We also receive donations from our members as well as people in the community. The ministry team ensure all clothing is evaluated for usability. Tower of Power has storage to accommodate our clothing ministry. It is amazing the way God works in this ministry to touch the members of our church, the volunteers who help, and the community who has been blessed.
Prison and Jail Ministry
Tower of Power Prison and Jail Ministry is designed to reach out to those who are incarcerated and to present Christ to the unsaved. Our ministry members also provide resources and support to ex-offenders and their families as they reenter society. The mission of this this ministry is to provide a caring support system to incarcerated men and women, and be a spiritual support to the victims, prisoners, ex-offenders, and their families. We do this by visiting various correctional facilities and serving as conduits to mainstream those served into the Tower of Power family. We are partnered with the Federal Correctional Institution, Inmate Re-Entry Program here in Texarkana. Members of the Prison Ministry are mentors to ex-offenders and serve as a support system spiritually.
The Prayer Ministry team is committed to Christ, to others, and to the task of intercession. There simply is no substitute for dedication. Jesus forever lives to make intercession for us (Hebrews 7:25). The prayer of petition is one of many prayers mentioned in the Bible. Intercession is a form of petition. It is petitioning God in the place of another person (Ezekiel 22:30, 13:5; Psalms 106:23). Intercession implies that a person is unable or unwilling to petition God on his own behalf (Romans 8:26) and that the Lord sometimes permits us to substitute for others in prayer. Because God has given us authority (Genesis 1:28), we have the power to intercede on others behalf. Intercession often is the difference between life and death, war and peace, healing or sickness, success or failure. Our ministry team knows that intercessory prayer is a serious matter. And are preparing for battle, we cannot take on the enemy if we leave our weapons behind. That's why we must go into "battle" armed for spiritual conflict (2 Cor.10:3, 4).
Because bereavement can create intense emotional and spiritual darkness, the bereaved will need gentle reminders that they have not disappeared into the "valley of the shadow of death" but, as the psalmist majestically declares, they "walk through the valley of the shadow of death" (Psalms 23:4). The bereaved need assurance and reassurance that God is with them and is quietly guiding them from the darkness of grief into the light of recovery. Tower of Power Bereavement Ministry is built on God's word and ministers under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. This ministry extends comfort, care, and spiritual support for bereaved families throughout their grieving process.Above all, the ministry encourages those grieving to "cast their burdens on the Lord and He shall sustain them" (Psalms, 55:22).
