Tower of Power core values shape how we grow and learn as a church family. We are convinced that the well-being and ultimate destiny of everyone, and every nation is connected with the Lord Jesus Christ. He alone is the Savior and the rightful Ruler of every individual and community. This means that growing spiritually requires training and doing those things that cause us to be more like Jesus. This includes submitting to Christ’s desires for us as we rely on the Holy Spirit to make this happen. We have four values that drive us. We want to keep our focus on these because we believe they are essential to fulfilling our mission as a church:
We believe the Bible is God’s word (2 Tim 3:16; 2 Pet 1:20-21) and the ultimate source of truth (John 17:17). Because of His word, we believe that every believer should pursue full devotion to Christ which requires complete dependence on the leading and enabling of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, we are committed to submitting our lives to its authority. We are committed to the renewing of our minds (Rom 12:2) through the study of God’s Word (2 Tim 2:12) for the purpose of bearing good fruit (Matt 7:16- 20). Our goal is not simply to know, but to grow (2 Tim 3:17; Jas 1:22; Heb 4:12).
We believe the primary purpose for our continued existence here on earth is to bring glory to God by proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ (Matt 28:18-20; John 20:21). Therefore, we are committed to aligning our lives around the gospel and its imperatives for us as Christ’s collective body. Every believer bears the responsibility of being the aroma of Christ in this world (2 Cor 2:15). This includes the verbal proclamation of the gospel and the charitable living that seeks to meet the needs of others (Jas 2:15-17; 1 John 3:17-18; Matt 5:16).
We believe that every true Christian is being shaped by God through the power of the Holy Spirit and the influence of His people into the image of Jesus Christ (Eph 4:13; Phil 1:6; Col 1:28). Therefore we are committed to helping people grow in maturity through relational discipleship (2 Tim 2:2). As we grow in the likeness of Christ, we will worship in spirit and truth (John 4:23), pray without ceasing (1 Thess 5:17; Eph 6:18), rejoice always (Phil 4:4), and above all, love (1 Cor 13:13; Matt 22:37-39; Rom 13:8; Col 3:14).
We believe that Biblical community involves teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread together and prayer (Acts 2:42). Therefore we are committed to a corporate and small group structure where the gospel can be lived out in real life together through these disciplines. We will band together to share each other’s burdens and joys (1 Cor 12:24- 26; Gal:2) and join each other for gospel purposes (Acts 9:31; 2:47).
