Children and Youth Ministry

growing-with-christ

Our children and youth ministries are committed to developing holistic ministry opportunities that put our young people in the best position to succeed in life.  This is done by instilling in them an understanding of who God is, godly principles; a strong sense of value and purpose; educational importance; and the tools required to be successful in life.  In addition, we provide several activities that allow our children and youth to learn and fellowship with each other by offering several activities regularly.

Children’s Ministry

The Children’s Ministry provides an environment where children can radically worship God and be taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our worship experience features a combination of exciting music, meaningful activities, fun games, and messages geared especially towards children. Every fourth Sunday is called Children and Youth Day and on this day you will hear the children's choir sing.  Although the youth may participate at times with the children, the young adult choir normally sings on the third Sunday of each month.

Youth Ministry

There are two significant life-phases that overlap during the young adult years: the openness and responsive characteristic of childhood; and the forward-looking attitudes of teenage years.  Young people are open to Christ during these years and that is why the Tower of Power provides ministry opportunities which shape and strengthen the faith of our children and youth.  One of the biggest challenges to this vision is the fact that young teens experience change in every aspect of development: physical, emotional, cognitive, relational, and social.

Goals of the Children and Youth Ministry

Commit to spiritual growth ~ Study the Bible and pray daily ~ Exemplify positive Christian attitudes ~ Volunteer by giving back to others ~ Develop closer relationships within the church family ~ Spread the gospel of Jesus Christ within our community

Children's Church

Children's Church is an opportunity for children to celebrate their love for the Lord. Many of our adult services give little opportunity to children.  Children's participation in our services are normally categorized for special events, holidays and annual services.  But Children's Church is a worship experience focused totally on children and building their understanding of  the Bible and promoting a meaningful relationship with God.

Purity Class

The Purity Class is comprised of boys and girls, ages 13-17.  The youth are classified into groups according to age and interests.  Members of this auxiliary are called Puritans.  The mission of the Puritans is to Provide a wholesome environment for youth development as well-rounded and balanced individuals whose lives are dedicated to living a saved and sanctified lifestyle.  The objectives are to build on the foundation of holiness that sets a standard for good, moral behavior that will enhance the development of youth leaders and future leaders in the church.  The objectives include the teaching of the values of abstaining from pre-marital sexual behavior, the use of illicit drugs, and other destructive behaviors.

Kool School

School is held on the first Wednesday of every month in the Fellowship Hall of Tower of Power Gospel Ministries from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Kool School also partners with the Miller County NAACP.  Kool School is also held at nine other sites in Texarkana.

Etiquette Class

Children are often encouraged to “be on their best behavior” when they go to church, school, store, other people houses, or when they go to an important event, as though “being on” their best behavior was like putting on a special outfit they might wear. The real goal should be to have manners become a part of them.  Parents often go to great lengths to help their child learn to be the best in athletics, in the arts, or academically. While these skills are an important part of a child’s development, the primary goal of every parent should be to raise a child to be a healthy productive part of society; it is this child that will experience a happy, healthy life, as well as be an effective leader in their generation.  While parents are the primary educator in a child’s life, Tower of Power offers support through our educational tools.
